TUES: PB December Members of the Month

Lisa Wasnock

Lisa has been an inspiring member for over a year, and someone that consistently flies on the coaches’ radar. In her short time at P360 Lisa has done some incredible things. Besides the learning of new movements, and building confidence within those movements, she has lost over 25# and found a lifestyle that supports maintaining her own health and happiness. As one of the most friendly and eager members on most days, Lisa makes new members feel super welcome, is open to share and work with anyone, as well as seeking out coaching with the intent to trust us and apply it. We have been watching Lisa make steady progress for quite a while and we are very excited to honor her commitment and hard work! Congratulations Lisa!

How old are you, and where are you from?
30. I call both Florida and Indiana home. I was born in Florida, and lived in each state for about 10 years growing up, until moving back to Florida for college (go Gators!)

What do you do for work?
I have my license in clinical social work, and I work as a therapist with kids, youth, and families!

What do you do for fun outside of P360?
Go to Disneyland, drink coffee, watch Game of Thrones, go to Target, hang out with my cat. Really cool people things.

How has P360 affected your life?
In so many amazing positive ways. So many. I found my inner athlete again after many years of feeling lost. I discovered and cultivated confidence in myself. I’ve lost 25+ pounds. And made friends in an awesome community (which as an adult is a lot harder than we give it credit for!)

What are your favorite, and least favorite exercises?
Least-Burpees, burpees, and burpees. And anything that requires us getting on the assault bike.
Favorite- Deadlifts and Cleans. And I oddly love PPBs and time challenges with the barbell. It’s such a great opportunity to really push yourself and see changes/improvements down the line when we repeat them.

What is the hardest thing you have done, physically, in the gym?
Probably learning to actually do certain exercises, especially Olympic lifts, the correct way. Always a work in progress, but it’s one thing to be coached and visually see how a movement is done, it’s a whole other challenge to get your body and mind doing it.

What is your most proud achievement at P360?
P360 has helped me feel proud of a lot of things. Honestly, COMMITTING, and working on not comparing my fitness level with someone else’s has been a huge achievement. Being a new member can be really scary!! Continuing to attend classes and work as hard as I could is something I look back on now and feel very proud of. Also, being brave enough to go to class when the mile is on the board.

What is a hidden talent of yours?
Mmmm singing, I was in choir from elementary to high school. Could be the best shower singer to date.
And I’m excellent at parallel parking. Which I didn’t realize was a talent until I moved to San Diego…

What is an embarrassing fact most people don’t know about?
I probably drink at least 10 cups of coffee in a day, and know EVERY word to the movie Newsies.

If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
To foster allllll the animals and have allllll the kittens, cats, and doggies.

What is the biggest overall improvement you’ve made, since joining P360?
Probably working on changing my body composition and learning how to eat for my training and health, and not just to lose weight. That whole “it’s a lifestyle” thing has really been something I’ve come to understand on a new level since becoming a member at P360. Fixing up my nutrition has been a game changer with progress, and in my ability to train hard when I’m at the gym.

What’s your favorite song to sing out loud/karoke go-to?
Ha, you won’t catch me doing karaoke EVER. But I do LOVE a good musical, and can and would sing any Backstreet Boys’ song out loud and proud.

What is the most valuable piece of coaching you’ve received?
I reaaaaally don’t think I can pick one thing. The coaches at P360 are ALL so amazingly knowledgeable and have spent time supporting my progress. I always enjoy when Coach Chris gives the cue “show me your armpits” in a front rack though!

Which public figure or celebrity would you put in the dunk tank?
EAAAASY, Donald Trump.

What’s your favorite place to eat in San Diego?
Plumeria or Ranchos Cocina in North Park. I’m a vegetarian so I love a good veggie restaurant.

Harry Potter
The Departed
I Love You, Man
I love movies, 3 is impossible to choose!

What’s a funny story from your childhood?
I made it out alive?? I spent a lot of my youth being sunburnt due to red hair and freckles, and living in Florida haha.

What’s your favorite naughty food?
Pizza and Doritos. Doritos are like crack and can rarely be in my presence.

If you could travel to any point in the past, where would you go?
Anywhere that I could find Jon Snow. I think I would have made a good hippie too, so 60s/70s.

What’s your favorite thing about training at P360?
The community, no doubt. The support, the coaches, the workouts, the members. They are all what makes P360 feel like more than a gym to me.

What is your biggest goal moving into 2019?
I want to make my first level barbell club, and continue focusing on building my strength and moving forward with progress. I spent a lot of 2018 working on my confidence in the gym and trying not to compare my “level” to others. This year I want to test and push myself even more, and see what I’m capable of!!

Marc Umemoto

Marc has been an absolute joy ever since joining the gym. As a beginner to training and with the right attitude, he came in eager to learn and see what this was all about. From trusting his coaches to test out of Phase 1, to surprising himself with BB movements, strength gains, and ultimately stronger in his activities out of the gym, Marc has never been anything but grateful and humble. He’s super friendly, open to working with anyone, and thinks the coaches are hilariously funny. We’ve been talking about Marc’s progress and positive attitude for months, and as a team we are incredibly stoked to honor all of his hard work. Congratulations Marc!

What are your favorite, and least favorite exercises?
The conditioning tiers are my favorite. My least favorite is the snatch. What a humbling exercise!

What is the hardest thing you have done, physically, in the gym?
Any of the personal progress benchmarks. They’re as difficult as you want make them.

What is your most proud achievement at P360?
Every day I go to P360 is an achievement. Before I joined P360, I had never been to a gym. Now, I can’t get enough.

What is a hidden talent of yours?
If I had any talent, I wouldn’t be hiding it. What you see is what you get.

What is an embarrassing fact most people don’t know about?
Every once in a while, I like watching cheesy, romantic comedies.

If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
Professional, competitive sailor

What is the biggest overall improvement you’ve made, since joining P360?
My overall health and fitness levels are much higher. This has translated to more strength and stamina for my other activities.

What’s your favorite song to sing out loud/karoke go-to?
I don’t really do karaoke because I sound terrible, but I do sing along to almost any 80s pop music.

While fishing, I managed to hook my dog’s ear while casting. On another trip, I hooked my leg so deep that I needed to go the hospital to have it removed. Neither incident shortened our day though.

What’s your favorite naughty food?
Breakfast pastries

If you could travel to any point in the past, where would you go?
I’m not a religious person, but probably The Last Supper.
