UPDATES
After much consideration (and not so much sleep), we have decided to remain open as is with our operations next week.
Short explanation – We deeply believe in our operation.
Long explanation…
3. Objective data collection by the county supports that the gym is an overwhelmingly low risk environment. San Diego County Department of Health revealed that just 0.4% of October cases were contact traced to gyms, the lowest of any sector. It is our sincere hope that leadership will re-evaluate our sector in light of there being observable and provable data that gyms are not contributing to the increased spread of Coronavirus.Â
2. We’ve put forth highly effective resources that have proven to support what the science tells us is safe, and established a training environment based around far exceeding the recommended preventative measures. Candidly, we are leading the way in prevention tactics.
3. All three gyms are positioned to have direct access to outdoor air flow and get substantial ventilation and circulation through the roofing exhausts. We are not an enclosed operation as local leadership has blindly labeled us all.
This was not a snap judgement nor is it about politics of any kind or taking some sort of principled stand. It’s based entirely on the sincere belief in our operation and its proven ability to safely serve the community, support physical and mental health of our members, and continue to keep the gravity of the pandemic at the forefront of our operations.
The reality is that we have no idea what we face moving forward and it saddens me that it’s come to this decision, but the data has spoken and we believe in it. We will operate in our set-up for as long as we can, and when we can’t, we’ll adjust and adapt like a cohesive community in the same way we’ve done since March.
There is no scenario where we stop providing workouts of some kind.
