Starting Small for Huge Nutrition Gains

Ever hear someone say that one thing triggered a ripple effect of productivity or positive outcomes? I have these conversations all of the time, about how if you woke up and hit your workout for example, it feels like your whole day is just more productive and well executed. So if that can be the case, why can’t we set ourselves up for success most of the time? Thinking of starting with something seemingly small and painless, that may feel manageable for you.

Take drinking water for example.

First off, water is great for you. Why? Well it is involved in many processes in our body. It cleans, it rinses our filtration organs, it cushions are organs and joints, it transports waste and hormone signals. It can also keep you feeling full and satisfied. It can also help to stabilize feelings of cravings or lack of control. Even just the act of aiming to drink more water, can spur on behaviors and outcomes that we may not have thought of. So if you get up first thing in the morning, you drink a glass of water, there’s your first marker of success! You’ve already achieved something great for yourself and you may not even notice it.

Easy Peasy!

Let’s keep the ball rollin’. Well, I just had a big beautiful glass of agua, what about a colorful breakfast? Something that is going to give me fuel to perform my daily life activities. Something that boosts my mood, something that I know is making me proud on the inside. You see where I’m going here? Something so easy may fit the other pieces together so well.

One of my personal goals is to hit a higher protein intake daily.

I focused on adding one protein rich snack each day. Easy as that. I’m two weeks in and I am consistently getting more protein. My scans are trending the way I intend, I feel satisfied and full and I’ve also been drinking more water lately and been hitting my activities more consistently! Who’s to say that’s not all connected, eh?

What makes sense to you? Try it on for size. Don’t quite know yet? Try adding in a glass of water tomorrow morning and a protein rich snack in the afternoon. Do it again. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Before you know it, you have small actions adding up to noticeable initial results.
