Travis Bond
Travis has been on the coaches’ radar since he joined back in February. Coming in with a ton of athletic ability, he adapted to the programming quickly and began to excel. In September, Travis made Level 4 Barbell Club with his Jerk and Clean PRs and heading in with a score of 819. He never cherry picks movements or classes, works hard every time he steps in the door and is consistently the one setting the pace. We are super proud of Travis for all his hard work has earned him so far, and very excited to see what his focus brings next!

How old are you, and where are you from?
I’m 27 years old from Anchorage, Alaska.

What do you do for work?
I’m a system safety and reliability engineering at Northrop Grumman. I’m currently working on a redesign for a subsystem on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

What do you do for fun outside of P360?
Besides talk about P360? I try to ski as much as possible and catch Manchester United games whenever I can. Hanging out in PB with Andrea is always a good time whether we’re on the water, at the beach, or in the bars.

How has P360 affected your life?
My fitness and programming are taken care of. All I have to do is choose the weight to use and if I want to do the time challenge that day. I’m fitter than I’ve ever been (Well, in every aspect except maybe my mile time. Soccer really prepares you for running.) I look forward to the gym everyday. Sometimes it’s tough to force myself to take a rest day even when I know I need it.

What are your favorite, and least favorite exercises?
I always like seeing back squats or deadlifts on the board, but cleans and jerks are quickly becoming favorites too. I don’t really have a least favorite, some movements are just more challenging than others.

What is the hardest thing you have done, physically, in the gym?
Day 2 – Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Andrea and I had tried and joined P360 the day before (Happy Valentines Day to us!) Coach Brenna put us through eight high intensity alternating 3′ on 1′ off circuits. Pretty sure there were burpees in there somewhere. We got to car afterwards and I thought I was going to die. Of course, we signed up for class the next day to do it again. I’d like to think my conditioning has improved since then.

What is your most proud achievement at P360?
Being named member of the month is definitely up there. Deadlifting 450# was a good moment. Not quitting during the first time challenge I tried (Mr. White) was really difficult and I’m glad I pushed through.

What is a hidden talent of yours?
I’m pretty ok at mental maths.

What is an embarrassing fact most people don’t know about?
I did not realize sweatpants weren’t acceptable for everyday wear until around 6th grade…

If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
Professional Skier/Snowboarder. I’d love to spend more time at resorts and in the back country on steep powdery runs, dropping cliffs and navigating chutes.

What is the biggest overall improvement you’ve made, since joining P360?
Consistent gains in strength, endurance, and knowledge. I feel like I’m making continuous improvements everyday.

What is the most valuable piece of coaching you’ve received?
I have gotten so many good tips from all the coaches at P360. It’s one of the things I love about the gym. Coach Dave’s academy on the KB swing helped a lot. Those used to kill my lower back. Coach Brenna’s academy on the squat made a huge difference in my bracing. I feel a lot stronger and secure under the bar. As much as I hate doing it, all the stretching and joint work Julianne coaches during yoga and mobility have helped a lot. Coach Chris constantly has great advice, but avoid the quit might be the single best piece. The vocal encouragement from every coach during circuits and challenges makes a world of difference.

Which public figure or celebrity would you put in the dunk tank?
Luis Suarez. Dude has bit three people playing soccer and they still let him compete.

What’s your favorite place to eat in San Diego?
Breakfast: Fig Tree Cafe
Lunch: Rubicon / Oscar’s
Dinner: Cowboy Star / George’s by the Cove

What famous person (alive or not) would you most like to have a drink with and what would you buy them?
Sir Alex Ferguson. The man coached Manchester United for 26 years and won the extremely competitive English Premier League 13 times! Talk about serial winner. He’s a wine guy, so I’d get a nice bottle of red.

If you had one movie on a deserted island what would it be?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

What’s a funny story from your childhood?
Too young to remember, but I have been told: My parents and sister were walking to our neighbors house when I spied chocolate on the ground. How fortunate! I picked it up and ate it. But, it didn’t taste like chocolate. It did not taste good at all. My parents turned around to find me crying with dirt and grass coming out of my mouth. I ate a moose turd. I had literally eaten shit.

What’s your favorite naughty food?
It’s hard to look past a good pepperoni, mushroom, jalapeno pizza.

If you could travel to any point in the past, where would you go?
England during WWII would be a scary, but interesting time period. Churchill as PM and not knowing if your country or way of life would survive.

What’s your favorite thing about training at P360?
The programming, the coaches, and the members. The workouts are always fun and it’s great coming in to see coaches you like and members you say hi to.

What is your biggest goal moving into 2017?
With Barbell Club 4 out of the way I’m looking around the walls at gym. Prison Yard is on my priority list. And, getting more competitive on the time challenges.

Sherann Day
Sherann is just about to hit her year mark at P360, and has really done some incredible work in her time so far. Always asking questions and looking for coaching, Sherann has become proficient in pretty much everything we do through diligent hard work and following the board. With a noticeable gain in strength and muscle over the last year, Sherann “accidentally” cruised into L2 Barbell Club by just building her working weight over time. She’s a regular in all formats, and challenges herself in speed and power as much as she does in strength. Oh, and she brings her super sweet pet pig to class sometimes too. Congratulations on a great month of hard work and big results!

What is a hidden talent of yours?
I literally have no talent. If eating counts, then that is my talent!
