Programming Prep: “Day Olds”
“Day Olds” is our four-week end of year de-load cycle where we will feature highly varied movements all month long, while still keeping our regular daily focuses.
“‘Day Olds’ is named after our founding days on Mission Bay. When we were starting out and essentially lived in the gym 5:30 am – 8 pm five days a week, Bryan and I used to eat 1-2 meals per day at Olive Cafe which was a breakfast cafe within walking distance. Their scones were fucking magical. Every so often, owner/chef Sarah would set aside a basket of free “day old” scones for me because she knew how obsessed I was with them. I’d coach 6 classes per day and would rely on these for deliciousness. And this deload cycle carries a bit of the same feelings. At first, you don’t get excited about day-old scones, but once you dive into that bag, you realize that they are just as good as fresh out of the oven. Kind of sneaks up on you in a way you didn’t expect. Kinda like unsexy deloading. So yeah, ‘Day Olds’. Enjoy.”
