PB Members of the Month (BLOCK 1)

A big congratulations to the following male and female winners of BLOCK 1 Member of the “Month.”

Jillian Ferree

“Jillian is super sweet, easy to share a barbell with, always collaborative and eager when it comes to building on technique. She’s made really noticeable progress since the start of January and I love getting the change to coach her.” – Coach Ashley

Where are you from and what do you do for work, and how old are you?
I’m 26, from Richmond, Virginia and I’m a Graphic Designer.

What caused you to join P360?
In January 2018, I started traveling the west coast from Seattle down to San Diego. For a year and a half, I was moving every few months which made it tough keeping to a consistent workout routine. I wanted a gym that would challenge me with strength training and help with my imbalances. Last June, I joined P360 four days after I moved to SD. It’s been everything I wanted in a gym!

Are there any results you can share with us?
Before I joined P360, all I did was run and bike. My knee pain had gotten so bad I could barely run a mile without my knees giving out. I decided to stop running and do P360 workouts 4-5 times a week. After six months, I went out for an easy 2 mile run to get back into it. I ended up running five miles and shaved over 30 seconds off my pace.

What gym movements do you love doing and why?
I love any sort of KB, DB, or BB complex. I find them challenging in a fun way and appreciate the athleticism that it requires.

What are your favorite types of workouts?
First, for Strength. Then, for Conditioning.

If you were an X-Men, what would your super power be?
Honestly, I’ve never seen X-Men buuut I’d love to be able to teleport.

What is an embarrassing story about yourself?
When I was a kid, there was a period of time that I thought I was a dog. I barked out the car window at our neighbors and sat under the kitchen table and begged for food. I blame my parents for not letting us have a dog.

Top 3 desert island movies.
I’m realizing how few movies I watch….does Pirates of the Caribbean count?

What’s a hidden talent that you have?
I can open a beer bottle with another beer bottle. Sometimes people think that’s neat.

What would you see if you could time travel anywhere?
San Francisco back in the 60s.

What is your go to local “cheat meal”?
Every burrito I’ve tried from Taqueria Los Ruiz I would die for.

What goals do you have for the rest of 2020?
To get into every performance club.

Tony Melgarejo

“Tony is super consistent at 6a, and has leaned down a TON. When he first started he couldn’t wear the weight belt we have hanging on the wall. Now he proudly wears it when he’s hitting heavy PRs. Tony’s effort on the conditioning side of class has also increased tremendously. That has also led to PRs for the benchmark workouts. He’s pushed himself harder than I’ve ever seen since he joined the gym. He’s extremely positive and encouraging to his peeps at the 6a hour. Very proud of Tony and the work he’s been putting in.” – Coach Dan

Where are you from and what do you do for work, and how old are you?
Raised in Modesto, CA and I have lived in San Diego for 10 years. I’m in Healthcare Staffing. I’m 33 years old.

What caused you to join P360?
I had REALLY let myself go and I was tired of feeling fat and sluggish all the time. Also, two of my coworkers (Chelsea Siefert and Emily Barney) had told me about P360 and how much they loved it. So one day, I finally decided to get off my butt and sign up for a class. The rest is history.

Are there any results you can share with us?
YES! I started around 210/215 lbs and as of my last weigh in, I’m at 196 lbs.

What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far?
I never thought I’d be the type of person that wakes up at 5 AM to attend a 6 AM class 5 days a week. But I’m doing it. Now, when I don’t work out in the morning, my day feels off.

What gym movements do you love doing and why?
Squats because booty gains. Short workouts are my sweet spot because my endurance is still a work in progress.

What are your favorite types of workouts?
Barbell stuff and short workouts, my endurance for long chipper style workouts is still on the weak side but I’m getting better.

If you were an X-Men, what would your super power be?
Growing up, Gambit was my favorite. I used to throw cards around the room and pretend I was him. Now as an adult, I want a super power that allows me the ability to absorb other mutants super powers. This way I never get bored with my super power.

What is an embarrassing story about yourself?
I have a video of myself warming up for squats and as I’m coming up, I let out a huge fart. No, I will not show it to you and yes it’s real. (But my wife, Yanai, will probably show you)

Top 3 desert island movies.
Forrest Gump, The Wood, Super Bad

What’s a hidden talent that you have?
I have this incredible ability to be looking at you while you’re talking to me and not hear a word you said. ADHD rules.

What would you see if you could time travel anywhere?
I’d go back to the 1970’s and buy a home in San Diego because now I can’t afford one (insert crying emoji face here)

What is your go to local “cheat meal”?
Rocky’s Crown Pub: 1/2 lb cheeseburger, full basket of fries with a side of ranch, and 2 Space Dust beers to wash it all down.

What goals do you have for the rest of 2020?
I would like to see my abs. I’ve never in my life been able to see my abs. So that would be cool. Maybe do some laundry on them if the washer machine is broken?
