Top o’ the mornin’ to you guys!  Hopefully this newsletter picks up everyones spirits on a gloomy, overcast Monday morning. Did anyone do anything fun this weekend?  Weather was a little sub par by our standards but still good enough to get out there and make something happen.

Without further ado…

P360 Games

We’re excited about this weekend and think it’s going to be an AWESOME time.  As a reminder, we’re putting on our August Event in the form of P360 Games.  It includes the following.

  • Pushup Flip Cup
  • Tipsy SUP Race
  • Cornhole
  • …and more

We’ll divide up into teams and make an afternoon of it.  We’ll have food and drinks provided so come ready to have an all around good time and feel free to invite your friends!

RSVP here.

Class Times

If you have checked the website this morning then you might have noticed we’ve kicked in the change to the morning class times.  Here’s the updated morning schedule.

Daily Challenges

  • Monday – Friday: 6:30 am, 7:15 pm

Bay Boot Camp

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:30 am
  • Tuesday, Thursday: 6:30 am

As always, we’ll continue to provide times that the majority of members request.  For now, the evening times are staying put but the next step will be to go 5:30, 6:15 and 7 pm across the board for those.

Yoga & SUP

As a reminder, we have Beach Yoga tomorrow at 6:30 am and Thursday night at 6:30 pm with our awesome instructor, Sarah Redding.  Head on over to our scheduling site and sign-up, if you still haven’t tried it the first one is always on the house.  I commend all of the first-timers we have had so if you’re nervous about it, don’t be!

We also have the second round of Surf n’ Turf SUP Boot Camp this Friday evening at 6:45 pm!  We are giving first crack to people who did not get to do it last time so if interested, I’d do it right now here.  It will fill up quickly.

We are going to open it up tomorrow to everyone else, and if you did the boot camp already then just let us know here if you want in and we’ll put you “next in line”.

First Surf n’ Turf SUP is free and just $15 every time thereafter.

Lean Eats: Sneak Joint

Sneak Joint has sort of become our de facto local partner for fun times and prizes for our members, and we’re happy to take it a step further and share some good eats they have over there.

Aside from being an incredibly fun bar, they have a very underrated food menu that they put a lot of pride into.  They prepare fresh ingredients at a good price and I highly recommend you check them out next time you’re looking for a healthy dining option.

Try this: Citrus Summer Salad

Ask them to add a piece of grilled chicken to it and it’s an awesome summer meal that keeps you on course.  The reason we like Sneak Joint so much is because of entrees like this that you just can’t find anywhere else in Mission.

Member Shout Outs

Another week of excellent accomplishments for those on the board!  As always, two entries each into our monthly gift card lotto.

Trivia Winner

Last week’s winner for ‘how many shark attacks’ is none other than Mr. Robbie Davis!  The correct answer was 64 and his guess was 69.  Not too shabby of a guess right there.  If I didn’t know him as a fine gentlemen of honor, I just might have suspected foul play!

This month’s gift card lottery is $30 in savings value to Sneak Joint.

Good Eats: Blind Man’s Ice Cream

This recipe could not possibly be easier and simpler and it tastes absolutely delicious.

If you are anything at all like me then you have somewhat of a sweet tooth from time to time (or every single night).  Instead of ruining your progress by getting hammered off of Yogurtland, opt for this instead.

  • 1 cup, blueberries
  • 1/2 cup, strawberries
  • 1/4 cup, heavy cream
  • cinnamon

Add the fruit to a bowl and pour the cream over top, then add as much cinnamon as you prefer and dominate.

Do not be scared by the heavy cream.  Cream is not very insulinogenic which means it will not promote a huge spike in blood sugar thus won’t promote fat storage.  The fats in cream will be used purely for energy if you are eating low carb the rest of the day, and the cinnamon will actually help improve your short-term insulin sensitivity.

So long as you are eating this after you’ve trained then it’s a great healthy dessert to quell your cravings and keep you on track.

Let us know what questions, comments, feedback and thoughts you guys have!
