We’re back with another edition of Performance360 Members of the Month.
As always, the member of the month award is decided by our coaches getting together and nominating who stood out to us each in the areas of attitude, effort and performance. We take pride in our votes and take the handing out of member of the month quite seriously. To win it means an individual stood out above hundreds of other hard working folks and is truly deserving of the honor.
Congratulations to our runners up: Dusty Teves, Jason Lykassis, John Dlugosz, Sarah Noland and Sally Steiner.
Joey McKenzie
Joey was a graduate of our very first Foundations Course back in July and since then, his consistency and work ethic has been noticeable from the day he became a full-time member. He and girlfriend Sarah are always pushing themselves on their weight, challenging their pace and clearly working hard towards their goals. Joey is very quiet, but always pays attention to his coaching and walkthroughs and as such, seems to always have highly productive classes. Since joining, his physical transformation has been very noticeable, down 15 pounds and counting and into Level 1 Lean & Mean Club. Joey is a pleasure to have in the gym and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to share in his recent success.

Thank you so much for the honor! It’s been a life changing experience joining P360 and making myself better each and everyday. Once again, thank you for everything you guys have taught me and the whole crew, I hope to continue my fitness journey with the awesome coaches we have for a long, long time.
Skye Halliday
Skye has been with Performance360 since the summer of 2014 and within that time period her transformation has been very steady, and very noticeable. Skye has long dealt with running stress fractures in her lower body, but that has not once slowed her down or stopped her from reaching some pretty impressive goals at the gym. We all know how much rowing sucks, and Skye has consistently subbed out her running for rowing for almost a full year. Where most folks would complain about this daily, Skye does it with a smile on her face. Recently, she got herself into Level I Barbell Club and Level 2 Prison Yard Club over the past month, as well as performing all 100 push-ups completely strict in last Friday’s “Mr. Yellow”. She constantly swings heavy bells and challenges herself on movements that her body allows, and is always focused on getting better. Skye has a great attitude and is a favorite among our coaching staff.

Age, where are you from?
I’m 22, from Spokane, Washington.
What do you do for work?
I’m a student at the University of San Diego, and work at 24 Hour (strictly for work I’m not cheating on P360;)
What do you do for fun?
I love doing anything outside. After moving down here I got really into beach volleyball and biking.
Favorite and least favorite exercise?
My favorite exercise would either be deadlifts or chin ups. Least favorite would be kettle bell jerks.
What’s the most valuable bit of coaching you’ve received at P360?
In my first few months of joining the month I was deadlifting and Coach Robby was watching me and said, “You don’t know how strong you are yet do you?” It really made me think about pushing myself out of my comfort zone, and seeing what I could do, instead of sticking with weight I knew I could lift. Getting out of my comfort zone lead me to accomplishing lifts I never thought possible.
What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far?
My recent deadlift PR is something I am really proud of (210#). I’ve been working around stress fractures so I’ve been trying to build up to it for awhile.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve done physically at the gym?
The hang clean / rowing challenge was a real doozy. Also the 100 reps of everything workout..killer.
If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
I would love to be a TV reporter for ESPN, I come from a big football family.
Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
I am incredibly afraid of moths. They disgust me. They are like creepy, gothic butterflies that get dust everywhere. If one flies into my room I panic and have to call my sister, who also shares this fear. Spiders I’m totally okay with, moths. Absolutely not.
Hidden talent most people don’t know?
I’m actually a really good rapper. I know every lyric to basically any dirty rap song you can think of. I also rhyme pretty well so I can freestyle. I’ll be dropping my mixtape summer 2016..it’s fire .
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
I would be rainbow sherbet. It’s a bunch of flavors mixed into one great one..I think i am the same, I have a few sides to me.
If you could teleport to any point in the past, where would you go?
I would love to go back to ancient Egypt and see how in the hell they really built those pyramids.
Favorite naughty food?
Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.. I mostly just love the frosting part.
What’s the biggest overall improvement you had made since joining?
My biggest achievement I think would be confidence within the gym. When I first joined I felt self conscious because I hadn’t ever done a majority of the lifts in class. But the environment of this gym is so welcoming that pretty soon I got comfortable. Now I’m not afraid of adding weight or failing, there is always another class tomorrow where I can improve.
What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
I didn’t watch a lot of cartoons but I was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanatic.. Big nerd. I own all the seasons on DVD.
Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them?
I would love to drink with Lena Dunham, she’s hilarious and insightful. I would buy her a Cosmo and get her drunk enough she would give me a role in “Girls.”
What’s a funny story from your childhood?
Before my sister was born it was just my brother and me. He always was doing fun boy stuff and I was jealous. So I cut off all my hair, wore his old clothes and made everyone call me Andrew.. I wouldn’t respond to Skye. I really looked and acted like a boy. I kept this up till I was almost ten, until that summer I was in the girls bathroom at camp and all the girls screamed and told the “boy” to get out.
Which public figure or celebrity would you like to put in a dunk tank?
Donald Trump.
You have one song and movie on a desert island. What are they?
Song would be White Fences by Need to Breathe, and movie would be Remember the Titans.
What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2015?
My biggest goal for 2015 is to finish school strong and start focusing on the next chapter. In the gym my goal is to get into a barbell club before the year ends.
A big congratulations to both Skye and Joey. Please make sure to congratulate both next time you see them around the gym.
