Jess Eystad
Jess has been a member of the P360 family for almost two years now. Dealing with an injury to her knee since the day she joined, Jess has not let that stop her from reaching her goals.. While this would deter a lot of folks to a safe life on the couch, she has not let it stop her one bit, smartly working around it and doing what she can to the tune of a slow and steady 20 pound weight loss recently hit last month!
Jess is proof that a few days a week without obsessive behavior can get you towards your goals with sanity in check.
Congrats, Jess!
How old are you and where are you from?
31, La Crosse, WI
What do you do for work? What do you do for fun?
I’m a producer for a multimedia courseware company called PARIO, working on the Army Comprehensive Soldier Fitness Program.
I love spending time with friends relaxing, traveling the world, interior decorating, reading novels, cuddling with my old boxer pup, and spending time outdoors (wait, does drinking on patios count as spending time outdoors? Sure.).
Favorite and least favorite exercise?
Love? Russian Kettle Bell Swings
Dislike Intensely? Double Under Jump Roping. Nothing makes me feel less coordinated than tripping over and over.
What do you like most about the gym?
Other than the friends I have made at the gym? Or the trainers who help me work around a knee injury to still reach my goals and make progress? Or the amazing bay setting?
What would current P360 Jess say to pre P360 Jess?
I would tell former me that some months you won’t see much in the form of tangible results, but they are happening and don’t be discouraged and just keep pushing along.
Most proud achievement in the gym?
Shedding 20 lbs. Turns out so many exercises are more enjoyable when there is less of you to move around! Who knew?!
What have you learned most since training here?
Form over weight. I’ve been concentrating on working on my weakest movements and trying to improve the form of each until it is strong enough to increase weight. The trainers have great tips for spotting and correcting improper form which has helped me a lot!
Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
I love the Harry Potter series, like, A LOT.
Hidden talent most people don’t know?
I can channel some Kristen Wiig SNL characters. None of these impressions are remotely flattering which is why it should probably remain hidden.
Famous person you would buy a drink, and what would you buy them?
Wait, why would I be buying the drinks??? Aren’t they super rich? Maybe tequila shots with Andy Samberg. Naturally, we would be writing and recording a new Lonely Island Digital Short.
What do you wish you could improve upon for yourself in the gym?
I just want to keep getting stronger and stay injury free.
If you were an animal, which would you be and why?
Probably a golden retriever. I’ve never seen an unhappy golden retriever. Plus my days would be filled with naps, swimming, running, cuddles and eating, so that seems pretty legit!
You have one song on a desert island to listen to for eternity. What is it?
All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey. Obviously.
What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2013?
I just want to keep working out through the holiday gluttony and not regress! Then tackle a whole new batch of (real) goals to start up in 2014!
Scott Record
Scott and his brother Kurt have been staples of the 6:15 am class for quite some time now, and are both always kind and hard working. Scott has very quietly been working hard and developing his goals, most recently reaching Level I Prison Yard and Level I Frog Club this month.
A frequent wake boarder and adventure seeker, Scott truly embodies what it means to Train. Eat. Play.
Age, where are you from?
I am 24 and from Hemet CA
What do you do for work? What do you do for fun?
I run the wakeboarding and waterskiing department at Mission Bay Aquatic Center, which is right across the peninsula from the gym. Right now I am super into surfing, but I like to wakeboard, ride mountain bikes and dirtbikes in my spare time.
Favorite and least favorite exercise?
I really enjoy doing body weight stuff (push ups, dips, pull-ups ect.) Hell trots on the other hand are just brutal.
What do you like most about the gym?
The atmosphere in the gym is awesome. The first day I remember being pretty nervous because I had never done a lot of the movements, but after a couple sessions I realized everyone is super supportive and just wanting to better themselves.
What would current P360 Scott say to pre P360 Scott?
Stop being so damn lazy! P360 will better your life in every aspect.
Most proud achievement in the gym?
It would probably be the 265×3 deadlift about a month ago. I had never deadlifted before joining, so I was surprised I was even able to lift more than 100 pounds!
What have you learned most since training here?
What my body is capable of. I have been with p360 for about six months and I just feel all around better about myself. Activities and sports I use to do before this gym would tire me out. Now I find myself working out, surfing, wakeboarding, and working eight hours in a day and still have energy.
Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
I really have been getting into remote control cars, planes, and helicopters. Totally nerding out!
Hidden talent most people don’t know?
I have been playing piano most of my life.
Favorite cheat meal?
Some greasy pizza is always fantastic.
Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them?
Will Ferrell, Budweiser like in Talladega nights.
What do you wish you could improve upon for yourself in the gym?
Being able to squat more. By far my weakest point in the gym.
If you were an animal, which would be and why?
Pelican, so I could fly around, eat sea food, and play in the ocean all day.
You have one song on a desert island to listen to for eternity. What is it?
Doobie Brothers, Listen to the music.
What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2013?
Gain fifteen more pounds! weighing 165 at 6’3″ just aint right.
When you see Scott and Jess around the gym, make sure to congratulation their hard work!
