We’re back with another edition of Performance360 Members of the Month.
As always, the member of the month award is decided by our coaches getting together and nominating who stood out to us each in the areas of attitude, effort and performance. We take pride in our votes and take the handing out of member of the month quite seriously. To win it means an individual stood out above hundreds of other hard working folks and is truly deserving of the honor.
First, some individual shouts from our staff.
Michael Robinson: “Steadily goes about his work month in and month out at an extremely consistent level.” (Coach Dave)
Corbin Smith: “Chomping at the bit every workout. Pushing himself in strength tiers, and going after time challenges.” (Coach Lenny)
Kurt Record: “For punching limitations square in the face.” (Coach Will)
THAN MERRILL
Than has been a member of Performance360 for roughly four years now, and despite an already extremely high level of fitness he has achieved for himself, he managed to have his best month yet. In November, Than hit a 435# back squat PR, 280# hang clean PR, 55″ box jump PR, 1:24.3 500m Row and a sub 6 mile…and had a daughter.
Than is always working extremely hard, quietly going about his business at an extremely consistent high level. We are very proud to have Than at the gym, and offer up a huge congratulations to a very impressive month of November.

P360 has been by far the best gym I have ever been too. The workouts are always challenging

Age, where are you from?
26 from Danville, CA
What do you do for work?
I’m a digital media buyer at an agency in Bankers Hill. Mainly I run Facebook ads all day.
What do you do for fun?
Traveling is my favorite. I like reading and learning. Lots of outdoor activities – running, hiking, scuba diving, golf, etc. I always have a few side projects I’m working on. Currently I’m focused on my marketing blog and selling mermaid blankets – super hot item with the ladies right now!
Describe how Performance360 has affected your daily life.
Going to the gym every morning is my favorite part of the day. Before P360 I would dread waking up early to work out or go for a run and my laziness would often keep me in bed. Now I’m always excited to go and I hate missing out when I can’t make it. It helps having so many friends that go because for some strange reason none of my coworkers care how many pounds I deadlifted.
Favorite and least favorite exercise?
I love deadlifts. I don’t love burpees.
What’s the most valuable bit of coaching you’ve received at P360?
Go lighter and work on form. My ankle mobility has always been awful so squats are difficult for me. I’ve seen so much improvement from where I’ve started, but I still have a long way to go.
What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far?
Going from doing my 1st pull-up ever to 4 pull-ups in a 2 week span. And getting into level 1 barbell.
What’s the hardest thing you’ve done physically at the gym?
The 5 minute rows. It’s always the closest I come to getting sick and/or blacking out.
If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
Running my online businesses while traveling the world.
Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
At a family reunion in 5th grade I fell into a golf course pond.
Hidden talent most people don’t know?
I have a knack for finding good deals and coupons.
If you could teleport to any point in the past, where would you go?
I would go back to see some of the wonders of the world before they disappeared.
Favorite naughty food?
Cookies. And ice cream. And chocolate…
What’s the biggest overall improvement you have made since joining?
It’s been a huge mental mind shift for me. I had never done this kind of training before and it was intimidating. I also thought it would make me bulky. That of course was a big misconception and now I love every minute of it and watching myself get stronger every day.
What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Rocko’s Modern Life.
Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them?
Jimmy Fallon. I’d get him something fruity maybe a strawberry margarita in an oversized glass.
What’s a funny story from your childhood?
I was a terribly picky eater. My parents had to tell me any kind of meat was chicken. And I had to dip all my meat in mayonnaise or it was the worst thing ever.
Which public figure or celebrity would you like to put in a dunk tank?
Blake Griffin. He’s a bit of a baby.
You have one movie to take with you on a desert island. What is it?
Grease. Hands down. One summer I literally watched it every day so it already stands the test of time.
What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2016?
Getting to 5 pull-ups.
A huge congratulations to Than and Gina, joining a growing list of Memeber of the Month alumni. Make sure to give them a pat on the back next time you see them in the gym.
