Movin’ The Charts – Sierra Ullrich: “I Feel Like a Machine Most Days”
Become More Nutrition Systems student, Sierra U. has been following Coach Ashley’s 6-week MUSCLE to the tune of cutting 3.3% body fat and growing 3.1 pounds of lean muscle, while maintaining her vegetarian lifestyle. Today she shares her strategies and foundations for her success.
1. Why did you enroll in Nutrition Coaching and has the program helped you with that outcome?
I enrolled in the Nutritional Coaching program because I wanted to learn more about what my body needs in order to see results. I was already in decent shape before starting, but I realized I didn’t know enough about nutrition to find the right “formula” to see real results on my own. Through the program, I learned how much protein I wasn’t getting, and eating more meals really helped me perform better in the gym! I feel like fine-tuning the nutrition part of my life was an important piece of my training, and it’s been so cool to see results in just 6 weeks just by making small changes.
2. What are some takeaways you will leave the program with and continue to implement?
I will definitely continue to pay more attention to the content of each meal. Before the program, I didn’t pay much attention to the portion of carbs, protein, fats, etc. in each meal, and now I look at every meal differently. Going forward, I want my meals to check all the necessary boxes! Being a vegetarian, it takes a little extra effort to make sure I am getting enough protein, so I will always be on the hunt for protein-rich plant-based foods to add to my meals.
3. What are you most proud of about your progress so far?
I am most proud of my numbers and my performance in the gym! Over the 6 weeks, I gained 3.1% muscle and lost 3.3% fat. I feel great, and I’m stoked about the visible changes in my body. In the gym, I feel like a machine most days, and I am moving weight that I haven’t done in years, if ever (shout out to Coach Abby for pushing me)!
4. In what ways has Become More Nutrition Systems been helpful to you?
Ashley is awesome!!! She understands that each person is in a unique place in their fitness and nutrition journey and meets them where they’re at. She was great about checking in on me, asking how things were going, and was available to answer any questions at any time. She had great suggestions for protein-rich snacks and meals and was really encouraging throughout the process. If I ever got frustrated with my numbers (there was a week where they went slightly in the wrong direction) she was so reassuring and told me to keep trusting the process and not worry so much about the weekly numbers! She was right! Additionally, her weekly messages in the group chats kept my head in the game!
5. What would you say to someone on the fence about Nutrition Coaching?
If you are on the fence about Nutritional Coaching, I would say just do it. These past six weeks have equipped me with knowledge about food, nutrition, and what my body responds well to that I can use for the rest of my life to keep my body healthy and strong. For the most part, you won’t see the results you want if your nutrition does not align with your goals. Six weeks really isn’t that much of a commitment, and Ashley is an amazing resource that you don’t want to miss out on! Go for it!
