We are back for another edition of P360 members of the month. For those of you wondering how we decide on this, our entire staff gets a thread going at the end of every month.  We all nominate individuals and at the end of it, we vote.  Maybe it seems like something trivial, but we take it really seriously because we love recognition of hard work, regardless of the fitness level.

Silver Medal

Spencer Sciarrone, Erik Stephenson and Ellen Christie  all received coaches nominations, as well. Congratulations, guys!  Your hard work did not go unnoticed.

Steve Bonanno

Steve has been busting his butt since day one, making it no secret he plans to get every ounce of strength and athleticism from his frame. Steve is a sponge in class, eager to learn and improve in a way that most folks are not, and he is always receptive of feedback, not moving on until he gets it right. Recently, Steve hit Level 1 Prison Yard Club and Level 2 Frog Club, as well as a 225# hang clean and a body weight under 165. Steve is friendly, encouraging and an all around pleasure to have in the gym and we are excited to see him reach his huge potential.

Get to Know Steve

Age, where are you from?
24, New York

What do you do for work (or school)?
I’m a part time bartender at a Lava Sushi in Hillcrest, and I am a full time student at the Art Institute in Mission Valley, studying graphic and web design for my second bachelors (already have one in fine arts).

What does an ideal weekend consist of for you?
An escape to a quiet town with beautiful views, campfire, good food and great people.

Favorite and least favorite exercise?
Favorite- Cleans of all sorts
Least favorite- Overhead squats or running.

What’s the most valuable bit of coaching you’ve received at P360?
To squeeze my glutes.

What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far?
Hard to say just one, it’s between 315# overhand grip deadlift, 51 inch box jump, and 225# power clean all at a weight of 163#. I’d probably choose the box jump because something about being able to jump over my own nipples excites me.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve done physically at the gym?
Not sure what name the workout was called, but it was a 20 minute timed workout along the lines of 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off, 8 stations of complete misery. That or bending the 60 penny nail… damn you Robby.

If money was no concern, what would be your dream job?
To be creative director for all of my friends business’s, big or small.

Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
I’m in love with Taylor Swift.

Hidden talent most people don’t know?
I can imitate a monkeys run with striking similarity. I also regularly beat people in beer pong underhand, ask Brenna “Butthurt” Bandy.

If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
New York super fudge chunk, because I’m dark and white and a little nuts. (its also my favorite)

If you could teleport to any point in the past, where would you go?
I think it would be interesting to see what life was like in America before it was colonized.

Favorite naughty food?
Chocolate mousse cake, or just mousse in general.

What’s the biggest overall improvement you had made since joining?
My entire body has been transformed. Hard work goes along with good eating and enough rest, but my goal when beginning was to gain some weight and keep it on. My thighs are now tree trunks, my upper body is looking more solid, and my ass is gorgeous. Thanks P360!

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Rocket Power, catdog, Ren and Stimpy, you know, the 90s classics.

Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them?
Taylor Swift. A double martini and oysters, lots of oysters. On a serious note, probably a comedian like Louie C.K., and he better be buying me a drink, he’s the one that sold out Madison Square Garden.

What’s a funny story from your childhood?
My brother and I were really young, I was maybe 5 and he was 7, and we wanted to play a game of baseball in our yard but couldn’t do it on our own because the only fielder would be the pitcher. So we begged our mom to come pitch for us, while one would bat and one would play defense. She threw about 3 under hand pitches before I ripped a line drive right back at her shin. I felt horrible. Probably would have been smart to play with a tennis ball.

Which public figure or celebrity would you like to put in a dunk tank?
The entire fox news team. Or Kanye.

You have one song, one movie and one TV show a desert island are they?
TV show is definitely Spartacus: Blood and Sand, although Survivor Man would probably be a smart choice. Movie would probably be Avatar. Song is a tough one, if I had to choose it would probably be All along the watchtower – Jimi Hendrix

What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2015?
Make my way up the barbell, prison yard, frog jump and possibly lbs. for lbs. board. I think lbs. for lbs. is more realistic for next years goal though.

Erika Migloire

Erika has been working extremely hard since January, starting with her recommitted approach to her fitness, diet and lifestyle. Dropping pounds and improving her strength throughout her 90 Day Challenge, Erika has been a positive force in her classes and mainstay on the schedule. Erika is a great example of starting from a “beginner” level and quickly shedding that label through consistency, effort and a positive attitude.

Get to Know Erika

Age, where are you from?
I’m 38 and I grew up in Spokane, Washington, but lived in NYC and the Bay Area before getting to San Diego.

What do you do for work (or school)?
I’m a Realtor.  Love what I do and love the company I work for which is a family run organization that’s been around since 1914.

What does an ideal weekend consist of for you?
Any weekend that involves some beach volleyball and brunch.

Favorite and least favorite exercise?
Favorite I’m going to go with OH kettle bell swings and least favorite would be the dreaded burpee.

What’s the most valuable bit of coaching you’ve received at P360?
There has been countless fantastic pointers I’ve gotten on each movement that we do. But I’d say the most valuable would be the more overarching positive culture created by all the coaches that really pushes me to give 100% on each workout.

What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far?
Finishing the Murph workout was definitely a great feeling.  When I first read it I thought there was no way, especially since I’d be rowing the mile on both ends. But I made it!

What’s the hardest thing you’ve done physically at the gym?
I did the 50 hell trots unbroken and that was pretty exhausting.  I hit myself in the face with the dumbbell at one point.  Maybe I should have listed that in the embarrassing fact section instead.
Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?
I have a serious problem telling my left from my right.  I just hope I’m never in a situation where my life depends on the following the direction “go left”.

Hidden talent most people don’t know?
North American Jazzercise Champion 2013

If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
Toasted coconut gelato, because toasted coconut is the most amazing flavor on earth and gelato because a well-made gelato is heaven in bowl.  If you’re going to be ice cream you might as well be the very best.

If you could teleport to any point in the past, where would you go?
I’ve always been fascinated by ancient Egypt.  I think I’d go back to when one of the pyramids at Giza was being built to soak up the culture and finally find out exactly how they built those things.

Favorite naughty food?
Breakfast burrito with ham, beans, black olives, and guac. Mmmmmmm.

What’s the biggest overall improvement you had made since joining?
The first couple months I felt like at any moment I might re-injure myself or create a whole new exciting injury.  Now my overall strength is so much better that it doesn’t even cross my mind.  That is such a HUGE relief for me.

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Scooby Do, right up until they added that idiot Scrappy.  Totally ruined the show.  And no, I’m not still bitter 30 years later.  Well, maybe just a little.

Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them?
I think I’d go with Andre the Giant and I’d buy him a strawberry daiquiri.  Firstly, they are delish and I think he’d enjoy it. But also, what could be more amusing than someone of that size sipping on a drink with mini umbrella.

What’s a funny story from your childhood?
This happened almost 15 years ago so I’m going to count it as childhood…
I was visiting friends in Santa Cruz once and since I didn’t have a car my friend gave me the key to hers and said I could drive it up to where I was staying with my boyfriend’s parents and bring it back to her the next day.  So I drove it on up there and the next day I couldn’t for the life of me get the key to turn in the ignition. I called my friend and the first thing she said was, “How did you get home? Why didn’t you take the car last night?”  HOLY SHIT.  I had misunderstood which car was hers and by some freaky coincidence her key not only unlocked the door of this random car but also worked in the ignition – just that once.  The best part was having to explain to my boyfriend’s parents (boyfriends wasn’t there btw) that the police were going to be popping by because I had accidentally stolen a car. No charges were pressed, but the police officers did make fun of me for about half an hour.

Which public figure or celebrity would you like to put in a dunk tank?
Sepp Blatter, former President of FIFA. Just an overall douchebag, he needs a serious dunking.

What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2015?
A pull up.  It won’t be easy, but god damn it these long arms are going to pull my big ass up to that bar without a band.

A big congratulations to both Steve and Erika!  Please make sure to give ’em a pat on the back next time you see them in class.
