F45 and Orange Theory — “Do You Even Lift, Bro?”

We’re going to fire some shots today. Let’s talk about the hype machines. This is any concept that places emphasis on the following because their workouts offer no real substance to them:

  • Calories burned
  • Length of the workout
  • Some sort of branded term to evaluate your workout effectiveness

These are the hype machines. On the surface, they look like good training. Fancy screens. Color-coded heart rate charts. Tech gadgets. And movements you’ve never seen in your life prior to working out there (there is a reason for that).

And if you’ve been grinding away at either of these places and wondering why you’re not actually stronger, leaner, or more athletic, here’s the truth:

They’re not built for results. They’re built for distraction.

Here’s four ways we can prove it.

1. Too Many Movements. Not Enough Purpose.

F45 loves to throw 12, 15, sometimes 20 different movements at you in a single workout. Why? Because if they keep you busy, you won’t realize none of it is doing much. And it is the only possible way to make a workout last 45 minutes. After all, more effective movements like barbell deadlifts, squats, cleans, presses and rows would be far too taxing to ask you to do that long, and since they don’t offer them the next best thing is mirage of fitness theatre.

Jumping from movement to movement looks cool, but your body has zero time to master anything. You’re just moving to move. And the weight is not enough stimulus to drive adaptation.

There’s a reason F45 is desperately trying to add barbells to their locations. They know they don’t have the necessary tools to keep their members long term, but their workouts don’t work long term.

At Performance360, we strip it down. Six focused movements per class. Smart progressions. Real volume. Minimal fluff. Max stimulus. That’s how you build strength and an athletic body that actually sticks.

2. “Sweaty” Doesn’t Mean “Effective”

OrangeTheory worships the calorie burn and the training zone. You’re glued to a screen, watching your heart rate in real time like it’s a stock ticker. Orange zone = good, right?

Maybe. But it’s like saying the scissors are the only valuable tool in the Swiss army knife. Chasing sweat and spikes might feel intense, but it doesn’t build anything. You can be exhausted and still weak. Tired and still soft. Endurance-capable but not strength able.

At P360, we don’t care how sweaty you get. We care how strong you get. Because strength lasts. Sweat dries.

3. No Strength Progression. Ever.

Neither F45 nor OrangeTheory follows any structured strength cycle. One day it’s a kettlebell circuit. The next, it’s TRX and battle ropes. There’s no progression. No overload. No tracking.

Without progressive overload, you’ll never build real muscle. You’ll just repeat the same effort forever, with the same body and performance to show for it.

Performance360 runs true training cycles. You lift with intent. You progress with a plan. You actually get better.

4. They Overcomplicate to Hide Weak Programming

Leonardo da Vinci once said that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” If the programming worked, they wouldn’t need to change it every single day with 15+ new movements.

All that variety isn’t for your benefit. It’s a smokescreen to distract you from the fact that nothing is progressing. You’re not meant to get stronger. You’re meant to stay dependent.

At P360, we keep it simple and effective. You’ll regularly perform foundational movements like the back squat, deadlift, cleans, presses, and rows. Weekly. We do what works and we do it regularly.

Your time and money is too important for you to waste it, and we take that obligation seriously.

5. You’re Surrounded by Cardio Junkies, Not Athletes

At F45 and OTF, most people are chasing a sweat, not performance. No one is getting coached on barbell lifts. No one’s chasing strength metrics. It’s all about making it to the end.

At Performance360, you’re surrounded by people who care about getting better. Stronger. Fitter. More capable. That energy elevates you.

If you want to burn calories, sweat, and spin your wheels, there are plenty of fitness franchises for that. But if you want to train like an athlete, build real strength, and stop wasting time on workouts that look better than they perform, ten it’s time for something smarter.

It’s time for Performance360. No gimmicks. No fluff. Just results.
