How old are you and where are you from?
Dusty, 32, Chicago, IL

How long have you lived in San Diego and what brought you here?
I’ve been here about three and a half years, chasing waves and good vibes man, and my place of employment asked if I would.

When did you start coaching at the gym?
August 2016. I was a member for a little over a year before that.

What do you hope to accomplish with someone when coaching?
Short answer: I hope they laugh at my analogies, but I really I hope they develop better movement patterns and mental strength to carry over in life.

Describe your own personal philosophies with fitness and nutrition?
Fitness to me, is being prepared, both mentally and physically to accomplish the tasks required of life. I personally believe nutrition is a key component to the former. If you’re fueling yourself negatively, sugar in the gas tank, you’re going to feel like crap, and you’re going to act like crap. You’ve limited your opportunities for the good things in life that impact our well being; career, relationships, access to education, health care etc.

Are there any personal results or transformations you’ve achieved through fitness that you’d like to share? |
Career growth and personal relationship development have been big for me, here. Time developing mental fortitude within sports and training has allowed me to better handle life. We all know work can stink, changing my perspective on how I view it was a big factor. I began to see professional challenges, hurdles, and tasks as I would training in the gym. This is what needs to be done, the timer starts, attack it and enjoy doing it. That’s been successful for me, and its given me greater flexibility in life allowing my to put more focus on building on my relationships with family and friends.

Where are you going locally to destroy food, and what are you ordering?
Bayside Landing. Chicken Teriyaki Plate, hot and brown.
