How old are you and where are you from? I am 28 born and raised in San Diego County. Originally from Carlsbad but have lived throughout the county through high school and college.
What are you most excited about coaching at Performance360? The same thing that made me excited as a member. The community. A lot of gyms can help people get a good workout but I truly feel that P360 builds a strong community and therefore creates a culture that allows people to get better and reach heights they didn’t think of when first joining.
What do you hope to accomplish with your coaching? I want to get better at being a leader and mentor for people. Each member learns from different cues and feedback and I am hoping to sharpen my tools of knowing how to reach different people and help them achieve their goals.
What should people know about you before they take your class? As someone who has played sports through college I am definitely a loud motivator and can spot when people are taking reps off. People should expect to be pushed not just for the sake of being pushed but because I feel confident they will be better for it.
What are your personal philosophies with fitness and nutrition? Personally I have been through college athletic level fitness programming and have had to gain weight and then lose weight for sports and while there are some methods that seem to work for most I do believe that there isn’t a one size fits all method. In regards to fitness I do believe strength based fitness is the best way to help people adapt what they do in the gym to their everyday lives. For nutrition I believe that some people need a very strict and regimented plan, but many people can’t sustain that kind of nutrition plan in their every day life. What I have seen work best for me is to eat more whole foods that you cook yourself, have 3-4 colors on your plate (this way you are giving yourself a variety of nutrients and fighting against boring meal plans), and drink more water.
What local food are you crushing and what are you ordering? I’ve tried really hard to stick to my own philosophy on nutrition and cook closer to 90% of my meals at home but when I need to indulge there is nothing better than a cheeseburger and fries from Rocky’s. Hodads doesn’t even come close.
