And the June winners are…

Female Member of the Month: Monica Wolfe

Monica has been a long time member now and has always been consistent and hard working.  A regular in the evening classes mostly, Monica is friendly with all of her classmates and always takes feedback from her coaches very well. Most recently, Monica made it into Level III Barbell Club with her recent 160# jerk (pictured above). She was also one of the winners from last October Challenge where she dropped roughly 10 pounds.

Get to Know Monica

Age, where are you from? 28, I’m from Pennsylvania originally and grew up in Orange County but I’ve been in SD long enough to call it home.

What do you do for work (or school)? Drug discovery research for a pharmaceutical company.

What do you do for fun? Volleyball, cycling, hiking, and traveling whenever I get the chance.

What motivates you each day? The feeling I get after doing something that I couldn’t the day before.

Favorite and least favorite exercise?  My favorite are jerks and most of the Olympic lifts in general. Least favorite are running, burpees, pull-ups… oh, the list could go on!

What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far? Fully committing to the October challenge last year and seeing some great results in strength and fat loss. I’m really excited for the 45-day challenge coming up.

If money was no concern, what would be your dream job? Basically, I would take Anthony Bourdain’s job in a heartbeat. Who wouldn’t want to travel and eat their way around the world?

Embarrassing fact most people don’t know?  I joined a bowling league last year and my average at the end barely broke 100. I don’t know what’s more embarrassing, the fact that I was on a bowling league or that my handicap was higher than my average.

Hidden talent most people don’t know? Ability to find the best parking spots anywhere I go. (Only works when I’m driving, though)

Favorite cheat meal? Anything sweet.

What’s the biggest overall improvement you have made since joining?  Jerks, cleans, and deadlifts were foreign words to me before joining P360. I took my time learning the movements, and have worked my way up to weight I never thought I’d be able to lift. So, I think I’d consider that my biggest improvement.

Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them? Steve Jobs – Apple-tini.

You have one song, one movie and one TV show a desert island are they?

Song: Don’t worry Be happy, Bob Marley
Movie: Cast Away (to pick up some deserted island survival tips, of course)
TV Show: I don’t watch much TV, but I’m really into the show Cosmos right now, so that would keep me interested for a while.

What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2014? Complete a century ride on my bike, and hike the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. My biggest in-gym goal is to work with Ashley to figure out an effective nutrition plan for me.

I just want to add that I am really honored to be chosen for this. It feels good to know that hard work is recognized and that is one of the things I love about this gym. I wouldn’t be in this position without help from all of the amazing coaches at P360. Thank You!

Male Member of the Month: Benny Eastman

Benny has been a member of the gym for about a year and a half now and has been as consistent of a 6 am attendee as we have at P360.  Always energetic and positive, Benny works hard and is a positive presence with his fellow members.  Benny recently completed his first full marathon at the San Diego Rock n’ Roll last month.

Age, where are you from? 28, Tasmania Australia

What do you do for work (or school)? I work at FortuneBuilders where we Coach and Train Real Estate Investors.

What do you do for fun? Traveling is probably where I get my biggest thrill. So when I’m not out in the world exploring I’m often brainstorming and planning another domestic or international trip. I’m also one of those weird people that loves entrepreneurship and real estate investing so that is a lot of fun for me, too. Plus I enjoy surfing, mountain biking, acoustic guitar and I read a bunch of books.

What motivates you each day? Progress at whatever I’m doing and having fun.

Favorite and least favorite exercise? Power Cleans :), Med Ball Slams 🙁

What is your most proud achievement at P360 so far? It’s actually just being able to work out hard 5 days in the row without my back hurting. A year and a half ago ago I thought having a bad back was just something I had to live with and it dramatically limited my ability to train. However with the support of the coaches, some exercise modification during class and gradually increasing weight over time I have strengthened my back to handle p360 5 days a week.

Favorite cheat meal? Grilled Chicken Baguette at Cass St Bar and Grill.

What’s the biggest overall improvement you had made since joining? My ability to run long distances has increased substantially. I completed my first Marathon last month which I never thought would be possible before I started P360.

Famous person you’d most like to have a drink with, and what drink would you buy them? Bear Grylls, I would buy him a warm pint of English beer (Just the way the Brits like it)

You have one song, one movie and one TV show on a desert island, what are they? Mambo number 5, Zoolander and the complete box set of Family Guy DVD’s.

What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2013? Climbing Kilimanjaro which I have locked in for late July.
