New Class Times Next Week!
Hey guys, thank you to those that have provided feedback on class times. We are going to be testing out some new times starting next week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will stay the exact same and we’ll be using Thursday for the new times.
Here’s how things are going to work on the new Tuesday/Thursday split.
Morning
- 6:30 am – Daily Challenge
- 7:30 am – Daily Challenge
- 7:30 am – Surf N’ Turf Boot Camp
Afternoon
- 12 pm – Daily Challenge
- 3 pm – Sport-Performance
Evening
- 5:30 pm – Daily Challenge
- 6:15 pm – Daily Challenge
- 6:30 pm – Surf N’ Turf Boot Camp
- 7:00 pm – Daily Challenge
So, the main changes are that morning classes are bumped up a half an hour and we are adding a 5:30 evening class. 7 will stay the same and the 6 class will start 15 minutes later than normal. Surf n’ Turf Boot Camps will not be changed at all.
These classes will be on the registration site by the end of this week.
The workouts will not change in the least even though the Daily Challenge slots are now 45 minutes. We’re going to have everyone stretch on their own in the same grass area where you cool down, after classes that tend to run on the “long” end.
Warm-up will remain the same for now, just make sure you are getting here on time so we can start on time.
We’re excited that this will accommodate the new growth and also keep times that people might currently like.
Let us know what questions you have.

P360 Weekly Newsletter: Grand Opening, Marathoners & More
What a WEEKEND! Things could not have possibly gone any better at P360 as we were fortunate enough to have so many of you show up for our Grand Opening. Then, when we thought the good times were over we see three of our members go out and CRUSH the Rock & Roll Marathon on Sunday.
We also have some really important announcements regarding class times starting next week, so please be sure to read those if nothing else.
Class Schedule
Next week the Mission Bay Sportcenter launches it’s Summer Kid’s Camp that goes from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. To be frank, it’s going to be busy as hell around here during those hours which is perfectly fine for classes since they run before and after. However, for those groups and classes that meet during the day we will be figuring out a solution for you. More than likely, we are going to the following schedule but we will be in touch as soon as we can figure it all out…just a heads up.
- 6:30 am – Daily Challenge Class
- 7:30 am – Daily Challenge Class
- 7:30 am – Boot Camp
- 5:45 pm – Daily Challenge Class (at least a few times per week)
- 6:30 pm – Daily Challenge Class
- 7:15 pm – Daily Challenge Class
The Kid’s Camp will have no ill effect on parking for morning and evening classes. We’ll be as proactive as we can be to accommodate everyone who currently trains during other hours.

P360 in the Rock and Roll Marathon
Okay, ‘WOW’ is all that we can say in regards to our athletes in the Rock and Roll Marathon this past weekend. We had three people run it and all of them posted awesome times. Check them out below.
- Laura Sumrow – Full marathon in 4 hours!! (she set her PR by 58 minutes!)
- Jacquelyn Molino – She did a ‘show and go’ half marathon, with a cold, in 1:44!
- Andy Bayon - Full marathon in 3:21 even with a hammy that acted up during the race.
Pretty impressive, right?

Thank you again to Sneak Joint, Rubicon Deli and Zico Coconut Water!
What’s the Deal With: Omega-3s?
Head on over to the Food Science board next time you are in class. Essentially, omega-3s and omega-6s serve to counter balance each other but you really need to watch your omega-6 intake. Omega-6s, most commonly found in grains and grain-fed meats promote inflammation by nature, so it’s important you are balancing them out with a healthy dose of omega-3s (most commonly found in seafood & fish oil).
June Referral Contest
Congrats again to Tyler Chernack on winning the May Referral Contest and snagging the $75 Visa Gift Card. We have a completely clean slate and everyone has a crack at the Grand Prize: a FREE 2-Hour Pontoon Boat Rental from the Mission Bay Sportcenter!
Last month the winner had two so don’t go thinking you need to be Mr. or Mrs. Popular to get the prize!
Best,

Surf n’ Turf Challenges Now Live & “Crisco”
What’s the second best part of a long holiday weekend? The fact that it’s already Wednesday and we’re a day closer to the Grand Opening Bash!
Today’s superset workout is an excellent one and frankly, I’m excited to do it later this afternoon. We’ve got a great combination of compound exercises, plyometric conditioning and sprint work. We have multiple exercises that are great for any goal. It’s an RFG day so get after it!
“Crisco”
Also, today is the first day of Surf n’ Turf Challenges being run daily! We currently have two daily times, one at 7:30 am and the other at 6:30 pm. So, now we have multiple options for both time, convenience and variance of training.
The Surf n’ Turf boot camps are exclusively geared towards fat loss, toning and aerobic conditioning. They will always be outside and will change every single day. We highly recommend them as a compliment to your Daily Challenge classes, and if you are a current member there is no additional cost to sign up for them. They are now listed on our class registration page.
Here’s a look at today’s Surf n’ Turf Challenge as well as some pictures of what we’ve up to with them previously.

Lots of Stuff…
Hope everyone had an outstanding weekend. We had an outstanding video shoot and BBQ on Saturday and are really stoked to see what EnJet Media puts together for us. Tiffany and Matt were great and I can’t recommend them highly enough for any small business looking to put together a great video.
First, here’s a look at the training split for the week. As always, we mix up the workouts by day. It’s important to realize that it does not matter what your goal is, every workout will be able to tailor the reps and weight so that you’re in the right range. While some are certainly more aerobic or anaerobic in nature, it’s the consistent combination of them all that will get you the most well-rounded results.
(RFG = reps for goal)
Today we’re doing a multi-goal superset with descending amounts of reps. Four total rounds, shade under 30 minutes.
Don’t forget to check out our educational portion of the Training Board, “Why We Do: Squats”. We’ll be switching topics tomorrow and going through the science of circuit training.
We’ve also added a new section to the Food Science board called, “What’s the Deal With?”, where we’ll profile a certain nutritional hot topic. This week we’re covering gluten.
Looking forward to another great week at P360.

Friday Fun
We’re outside today, gang. Little bit of everything in this one, 3 trips through and enjoy!
P360 Members: A Day in the Life
One of the things that we’re most excited about in terms of opening this facility is introducing people to a completely unique gym experience. It sounds cliched because let’s be serious, EVERY business that opens doors for the first time thinks they are doing something cool and original. Has anyone ever sat down with their business partner and said, “you know what would kill it? A restaurant that serves mediocre food and doesn’t focus on customer service”. Everyone has big plans out of the gates.
That said, I am extremely confident that you guys are going to be blown away by your experience at P360. In an industry that doesn’t usually ‘wow’ their members, we’re prepared to fill the void.
There’s a reason why we chose the following slogan for our first promotion.
The gym concept, flipped on its head
Aside from the act of exercising you’re not even going to feel like you are in a gym at P360.
Let me explain.
Training
What’s the first thing you notice when you walk into a large, chain gym? Well, there are a few things but what I tend to picture are rows upon rows of cardio machines, eight or nine guys crowded around the tricep and bicep machines and a lot of standing around looking at the mirror with most guys thinking they are bigger and stronger than reality might argue.
P360 is going to feature an equipment lineup exclusively based on functionality, athleticism and developing lean, strong, toned looking bodies.
We opted for this over an elliptical machine, for our advanced crowd.
We also subscribe to the wild and crazy notion that members should dictate what they want to do in the gym. We talked to a local gym owner a few weeks ago and she was boasting on and on about how she frequently tells clients to shut up and that they have no input in training.
Needless to say, we almost laughed directly in her idiotic face.
Prepare to have the decision on when you want to train, what day, what frequency and what you want to target. We’ll come up with challenging, fun workouts that WILL push and develop you, but you have control of absolutely everything in between.
Eating
One of the biggest inspirations to our concept was nutrition and just how little coaching is provided in chain gyms. The reality is that training and exercise are crucial for your health, body composition, strength and athleticism but nutrition and diet are what drive 80-90% of the way your body changes. With this level of importance, we feel it’s an injustice to members to not provide them with as much access to correct nutrition as possible. It will never be shoved down your throat (no pun intended) at P360, but I can confidently guarantee you will not find more, easily accessible information on eating correctly than you will at P360.
Playing
Ah, the fun stuff. At P360, we wholeheartedly believe in proper training and nutrition as a staple of your life. However, we don’t think anyone should be defined or even boxed into that philosophy. You have to get out there and live, kick back, and not just every now and then but every week! Starting from the top up, we promote having as much fun as possible regardless of how you define it. Hitting a good trail, getting an aggressive night at the bars, going to Padres games, heading up to Big Bear for the weekend, going surfing or whatever your cup of tea. We’ll put you in a position to do it at your best.
Here are some of the social events we have lined up for our members.
- BBQs
- Happy Hours
- Friday Keg Nights
- Padres Games
- 5ks and Mud Runs
- Brewery Trips
- Limo Nights
- Intramural Sports
- …and more
When you add it all up, you get a weekly snapshot that might look something like this.
Monday rolls around and you decide you’ll be training in class Monday night and mornings Tuesday and Thursday. You show up for your first class and catch up on your weekend with the coaches and fellow members. First thing, you walk in and check out the chalkboard walls and see what’s on tap for the day’s workout. Then, ‘what’s new and what info can benefit me?’ Maybe you decide to partake in the Contest of the Week, which happens to be Most Embarrassing Client Pic. You check out your personal records on the board and decide this is the week you want to push past one of them. Maybe it’s a 5-rep squat max, maybe its your time for one of our signature workouts, or maybe it’s being able to do ten full pushups on your own.
You also glance at the “Eat.” section of the walls and see a new training recipe has been updated. Godfather Turkey Meatballs…mmm. Maybe you decide to head to Trader Joe’s and pick up the ingredients after class. If not, no biggie, there’ll be a brand new recipe that’s simple and fast next week. The important thing is that you see the exact plan for your goal written on the board so you know there’s no grey area if you choose to pursue it.
Thursday rolls around and turns out you crushed the personal record you were going for. The whole class gets your back; congrats, high fives and the feeling of walking up to that board, erasing your previous best and writing in the new one. You see that the P360 Happy Hour is tomorrow night and decide that you’ll celebrate your new achievement…and the fact you just so happened to dropped three pounds this week, which we’re sure you’re not complaining about!
Life. Is. Good.
You see, if you’re training right, eating right and playing right then everything else in your life will fall into place. Your personal relationships will be better, you’ll better excel at your job, you’ll have more energy and project greater daily confidence, you’ll be injury and pain free, and most important you’ll set yourself up for a longer, more fulfilled life.
And that’s what “fitness” it’s all about, right?
On another note, our friend Tracey Barnett who owns Port City CrossFit is competing in this year’s CrossFit games and were really stoked to follow her progress. She has been immeasurably helpful at offering her advice as a fellow first-time gym owner, as well as her pictures and ideas and we’re extremely grateful. She is currently ranked 6th in the region, which is not surprising since she deadlifts 325. I’m serious.
I’d be incredibly remiss to not publicly thank her and recognize her input.
See you guys on the 19th!

What We’re Up To…
Hey, everyone. As you can see, we have a new set-up for the blog as you’ll now be able to access all of the usual blog posts right here on the website. They’ll be quick hitters featuring workouts, nutrition tips, updates, contests and everything you can think of and will essentially act as a virtual extension of our facility.
First and foremost, some of you do not know my partner. Bryan Pritz comes aboard P360 as co-owner and will be hands-on with everything we’ll be doing. As a former member of the Boston Red Sox and marketing major, he brings a lot to the table and I couldn’t think of a better person to open P360 alongside. Here’s a little bit about him.
As you know we signed our lease last Thursday and things are moving QUICK. The spot is being demolished right now with fresh drywall being put in, brand new electrical outlets and new flooring. We will have the place handed over to us this weekend and from there it will be five or six 14-16 hour days filled with labor, set-up, installation and painting all with the goal of having it ready to go for you guys on April 19th!
A lot has happened over the last 96 hours. Our first order of business was to ensure we completely decked the place out with first class, American-made equipment so we contacted our friends at Rogue Fitness and went TO TOWN.
$15,000 later we have a slew of kettlebells, dumbbells, bumper and iron plates, his and her barbells, slammers, plyo boxes, infinity rigs, benches, sleds, conditioning ropes as well as a handful of other items not limited to rowers, treadmills, bands, cones, etc. all driving across the country as I type.
We also ordered a particularly fun little guy called a Bulgarian Bag that we are very excited to implement in some of our advanced clients. This is going to be the next big thing in fitness and compete very seriously with the kettlebell in my opinion, and P360 will be among the first in the area to have them.
Our next post will be all about our limited pre-launch membership prices that drop the end of this week! They are going to be a crazy good deal and we expect to sell out in 48 hours, so I highly recommend checking back here once those hit the table!
In the meantime, I invited you to browse around our website and let us know what you think.
Thanks and drop us some comments with any questions or ideas you’d like to see included at the new spot.
Very Proud Owner,
DT
