P360 Newsletter: Big Bear Official
Good morning, ladies and gents. Hope that you all had a nice weekend and we are guessing those from the greater Manhattan area are on cloud nine right now. To that, I say congratulations…and that my Redskins beat you twice this year.
Sincerely,
Bitter Betty
Big Bear, 2/17
We don’t have much new news in this Newsletter but wanted to use it as a way to let you guys know we have officially booked a cabin in Big Bear the weekend of February 17th.
Here are the complete details of the cabin we have booked.
In summary,
- SIZE: It is a 33-person cabin with a 40 foot deck, 8 bedrooms and located next to a bar and a rental shop. If we hit 33 and we have requests for more, we will call the cabin and see what else we can do but right now it is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.
- COST: It will be between $66 and $100 depending on how many people we get. Right now, we have 16 people who have signed up.
- LOGISTICS: Check in will be roughly 4 pm on Friday and check out will be 11 am Sunday. You are more than welcome to head up early on Friday to hit the mountain and then just meet at the cabin later for check-in. For those interested, we will caravan from the P360 parking lot at 12 pm Friday, the 17th. Again, feel free to head up whenever you want.
- LIFT TICKETS & RENTALS: We will get discounts on rentals and lift tickets if you need either.
Go ahead and let us know if you would like to invite someone else and we will put that person on the waiting list. If we do not fill the 33 people via P360 members then we will open it up to your friends.
Here are some pics of the cabin we’ve booked.
Let’s fill this thing up and have an absurd weekend.

P360 Newsletter: Huge Week, Feb. Big Bear & More
Good morning, guys. Hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed the nice weather. 77 and sunny on January 28th.
NBD and in your face, East Coast.
February Big Bear Trip
After a January hiatus from a P360 Social Event we’ll be coming back strong in February and currently trying to gauge interest on a potential trip to Big Bear.
Right now there is nothing concrete as we will need about 25-30 people to commit but it seems like we have quite a few interested!
Here’s what we are currently looking at.
- Weekend: Feb. 17 – Feb. 19th (the event will def. be this weekend regardless if we go to Bear)
- Cost: $75 – $100 for lodging + whatever you want to spend on the mountain
- Lodging: ~30 person cabin that can be expanded if we need it.
Completely open to all members right now so let us know what you think. This trip will be entirely driven by the amount of people we get to commit so shoot us an email or let us know what you are thinking in person.
I am sure we will get the question of “can I bring my ______” and right now, we are keeping it as just members. That’s not to say we won’t open it up after a while but as I am sure you understand, we need to see which P360 folks are in first.
Member Shout Outs
Man, we had a HUGE week last week highlighted by two records, thirteen PRs across multiple exercises and an All-American announcement. Check it out, pretty cool stuff below.
Specialty Classes
The specialty classes have been great and we’re pumped to see you guys really embracing the Thursday night yoga class. It will be remaining on the schedule indefinitely and if attendance remains this popular we will most likely add another slot during the week.
Black Ops has trailed off a little bit so right now we are going to test out an every other week schedule. As always, best way to get something on the menu is to regularly attend it.
One option we are considering is to have Tuesday and Thursday night be “Choose Your Own Adventure” night as a way to combine both a Daily Challenge, Power and Black Ops class. We would have three workouts to choose from and you could go any route you wanted, essentially allowing us to keep all three, please everyone and remain efficient with our scheduling.
Class Times
The 6:15 morning classes have been very popular and will remain on the schedule as long as we continue to see attendance like this. We will also keep the 6:30 for a while as we decide what works best for the collective group in the morning but just wanted to let you guys know that you can expect the mornings to remain as is for a while.
We will also be keeping the 12 noon class, as well.
Jump Start Your Heart
In case you missed our invitation last week then make sure to check out the Jump Start Your Heart Facebook page. It’s a charitable 5k going from Pacific Beach to the front doors of Performance360 with the proceeds going to the Children’s Heart Foundation. It’s just $30 to register and you get a jump rope and a t-shirt out of it. We all know how much you guys like double unders.
That’s it, guys. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you guys.

New Year, New Fun, New Training
Oh what up 2012?! I can’t believe you are already here, you rascal. You are freaking EARLY to this party!
2011 was arguably the fastest year of my life. I can’t believe it came and went as quickly as it did and considering this is the last year of civilization, we need to make it a good one. So I say, get as strong and lean as you can so when the disaster happens that’s going to end us all, you can make sure the weaklings bite it first.
On that light note! Here are some of the exciting things we have going on in the gym. We have a lot of new contests and roll outs coming your way so make sure to read up on it all.
Facebook Referral Contest
The Facebook contest we ran in October is coming back in full force, this time with more opportunity to earn yourself a membership discount. For those of you who were not a member back then or if you need a refresher on how it works, you can accumulate points as follows.
- Refer a new gym member = 20 points (as always, if you refer a new member you get a free month of training on us…ask us details).
This will always be king for getting points since this gym only grows if you guys help us. You will also earn a ton of points for help spreading the word on social media.
- “Share” a P360 Facebook post or blog = 3 points
- Tag “@P360″ in one of your posts = 3 points
- Comment/Like one of our posts = 1 point
- “Check in” to P360 = 1 point
- Try P360 in 2012 Invites = 1 point (info below)
(Per last time, this structure may change after the first few days as really have no idea how much we are extending ourselves off the bat.)
We are also rolling out a new addition to the contest. We’ll be creating a Facebook Event called “Try P360 in 2012″. You will get 1 point for every friend you get to “attend”. You would invite your friends just like any event we have, and from there we get as pool of interested potential members.
We are hoping for a repeat of October when we handed out a TON of discounts for the social media help you guys lent us so let’s get the pimpin’ of P360 going and all help each other out.
You will earn the following discount based on accumulated points.
75 points = 10% off
100 points = 20% off
125 points = 30% off
New Class Schedule
We are excited to announce that the 12 noon class will now be run every day of the week starting next week. As always, we keep classes on the schedule based on a single criterion: attendance. So, if we want to keep it as a permanent fixture then we’ll need to make sure that attendance stays consistent for those who have been coming.
In addition, we are considering tweaking the morning class schedule to the following.
- 6:15 am
- 7:00 am
Please email us your feedback, especially if you are a consistent morning class attender. Get your voice heard.

‘Beat the Soft’
In case you missed the analysis from the Beat the Soft Holiday Challenge you can read about it here. Pretty remarkable. Chrissy Perrenoud came away with the $300 cash lottery which you can watch here.
P360 Expansion
Some of you have asked us what we plan on doing when classes start to become more popular over time. If we plan on expanding the class size, adding more space, etc.
While nothing has happened yet we are extremely pumped to let you guys know that we’ll be taking on more space in the facility probably around February. There are a few options that may occur on premise but however it nets out will result in substantially more space for you guys. We never want to turn this gym into assembly line (in fact we refuse to), so this will allow us to grow more in tune with P360 philosophy.
Suggestion Box
We are taking any and all suggestions to make 2012 even better than 2011. As always, we can’t promise we’ll implement them but we love taking feedback. That’s how just about every major implementation has occurred at P360 so if you have something in mind than run it by us. Our door is always open, or in this case our email inbox (Dave@Perform-360.com).
Happy New Year.

Final 2011 Newsletter
I cannot believe it has been eight months since we first opened doors at Performance360. It has been a combination of extremely fun, nerve wracking, exciting, stressful but most off all we feel genuinely privileged to have the group of members we currently have at the gym.
I think you know Pritz and I well enough at this point. We are not exactly shmoozers or bullshitters and I can say with no ulterior motive that we’ve come to get to know each and every one of you and are honestly lucky to have you guys training with us. If you guys reciprocate that towards us in just a small amount then our project has been worth it.
There is no way I am going to get everything in this newsletter but here are some accomplishments I am most proud if in 2011, in no particular order.
Increasing your strength while losing weight is not hard to do. It happens to everyone the first time they get off their ass. HOWEVER…substantially increasing your strength to elite levels while losing massive amounts of weight for folks not categorized as ‘obese’ is not easy to do. At all.
Jason Weber dropping 22 pounds while simultaneously seeing his deadlift three inches away from 500#.
Dee Nipper loosing 40 pounds while maintaining a deadlift of 205#…at age 52.
Carol Parma loosing 30 pounds and being one of the strongest women in the entire gym…at age 50+.
Alex Vekich going from nervous Nancy first time weight trainer to full on embracing the culture and establishing herself as one of the most physically capable members we have.
Jen Gordon losing close to 30 pounds and counting and showing absolutely no fear as a complete first timer. She is a genuine inspiration to the gym and to Pritz and I personally.
Yash Norhashemi increasing his strength 75-200% across all major lifts.
Ashley Blanton lose roughly 15 pounds and increase her strength 75% and counting, while completely embracing what we’re doing…at least INSIDE the gym
Andrew Dallman improving just about everything you can improve from strength to body composition and doing it as one of the most consistent members of 2011.
I’ve certainly left off many of you who have made some huge gains, and don’t think we haven’t noticed. Keep up the outstanding work all around and we are pumped to see what happens with everyone’s results in 2012.
“Beat the Soft”
There are only four more days left to the “Beat the Soft” Holiday Challenge and we’ll soon be crowning the champion and winner of the $300 cash jackpot.
While we expect these figures to change this week drastically based off how naughty or nice people were over the holidays, here are the current leaders.
Strength
- (M) Chris Sieberkrob – 48%
- (F) Chrissy Perrenoud – 76%
Fat Loss
- (M) Jon Mesic/Robbie Davis – 3#
- (F) Jess Eystad – 10#
Percentage Fat Loss
- (M) Jon Mesic – 2%
- (F) Jess Eystad – 6%
There is still time left this week to get your name into that $300 lottery!
$100 Referral Contest
Here are the current standings with five days left to increase your tallies! You get 1 point if you bring a friend with you and an additional 5 points if they join.
Member Shout Outs
Here are some long overdue member shout outs from the past two weeks. These are very impressive across the board.
January Facebook Contest
As a heads up, we will be running back the Facebook contest that we ran a few months ago in which 17 of you received discounts for helping us. We’ll be tweaking it slightly and adding a few different categories but just wanted to give you guys a bit of notice. Let’s make it a big win and all help each other out. You help the gym grow and we hook up a discount for doing so.
Thank you all for a great first eight months.
Yoga Now Included!
We’ve polled feedback and decided to include yoga in ALL P360 memberships at no additional cost. If you are on a plan that is billing you extra for it, please let us know and we will adjust you accordingly. We want people to do yoga not as a profit machine but because we genuinely think it will benefit you and this was the best way for us to do it.
Thank you all for a great first eight months.

$100 Cash, Holiday Hours & More
Good morning, guys! Hope you all had a good weekend and for those of you who have already taken on off to head back to see family, hope you have had safe travels. This newsletter is actually coming live from Northern Virginia so my vaca has already started (sort of).
We have a few updates and announcements,
$100 Referral Contest
Right now we have a pretty tight race for the referrals and we have a few weeks to go. Chris Cisek, Matt Gordon and a few others are right in the thick of things and all you need to do is bring your friends along with you to get points. One point for a new visit, another five if they join.
Winner gets $100 cash which right there helps pay for presents! (Or bar tabs)
$300 Beat the Soft Challenge
We have been thrilled with the results of the BTS Holiday Challenge thus far as every single voluntary participant has either lost weight or increased their strength significantly, and most have done both. We have not updated the current standings but we have many men and women in the heat of the race competing for that $300.
Some stats in case you have missed it.
- Average strength in women has increased ~41%
- Average strength in men has increased ~19%
- Average fat loss for women is 4 pounds.
Chrissy Perrenoud was in the lead for women’s strength last we calculated (71%) with Jess Eystad winning fat loss (10 pounds).
Chris Sieberkrob (36% strength increase) for the the men and Jon Mesic/Robbie Davis (3 pounds) for fat fat loss.
Strength up. Fat down. Now that is beating the holiday soft.
Maximus #1
In case you missed the announcement last week, Elyse Paulson becomes the first overall member to be inducted into the Maximus Club after she demolished a 9:47 “Ring of Fire” time.
“Hauntings of the Turkish Get-Up”, starring Elyse Paulson. This was taken seconds after a 9:47 “Ring of Fire”.
Holiday Hours
In case you have missed our postings about holiday hours, here’s the final reminder!
We will be closed Thursday – Monday but will post some quick body weight workouts if anyone feels like getting a sweat going while they are home for the holidays.
We’ll be re-opening in full Tuesday, December 27th.
New Blog Format
As you have probably noticed we have changed the current format for the website in regards to workout postings. They are still updated each day but will now be found in the right hand column of the home page under “In the Gym”.
The blog section will continue to be used for quick updates and entries and check it out if you’ve missed some of our first postings.
We want to make sure we keep P360 as a place where you not only learn, but can interact and have fun and we like this switch to maximize that experience.
If we don’t see you guys, then have a GREAT holiday and enjoy the time spent with your family.

Contest Updates, Ugly Sweater, Clubs & Yoga
Good morning, P360 fam. Hope that you guys all had a nice weekend as we near the madness of the holiday season. We decided to move the newsletter to once every two weeks, or at least give it a whirl and make them a bit more consolidated so that you don’t have to read communication from us each week.
Here are the important things going on in the gym right now:
$100 Referral Contest
We are starting to pick up steam in the Holiday $100 U-Call-It Referral Contest and there is more than a handful of people out there with a shot. All you need to do is essentially get one friend to join and it puts you right in the race for the $100 cash prize. Here are the current standings. (+1 point for a friend that tries us, +5 if they end up joining)
The contest goes through the end of the year so it’s not too late to start bringing your friends!
Yoga for Athletes
We are excited to move Yoga for Athletes to a time where it sounds like more people will be able to make. It will now be Thursday night at 6:15 pm so if you have been wanting to give it a try but can’t make the morning session, you now have no excuse!
Start working that mobility, flexibility and problem areas and you’ll notice a huge difference inside and outside of the gym.
$300 ‘Beat the Soft’ Standings
We will be updating the first edition of the standings this Friday after everyone goes through strength testing and weigh in over the course of the week! We are already seeing some excellent jumps in strength through the first ten days and are really excited to see just how strong and lean this gym gets by the end of 2011.
Member Shout Outs
This gym continues to blow us away week in and week out!
Christmas Hours
We want to give you the guys the Holiday hours with as much notice as possible just in case anyone plans on doing some advanced planning, but for now we are running regular hours the entire month of December except for the following days. We’ll be closed the 23rd – 26th and will have abridged hours one or two days leading up to it.
Ugly Sweater/Onesie Bar Crawl
As a reminder our 1st Annual Ugly Sweater/Onesie Bar Crawl is this Saturday evening so get ready! All of the details can be viewed on the Facebook page, here. We’ll be announcing official start times and locations later this week once we get the final head count.
Right now, we’re looking at Sneak Joint (duh), Beachwood, Miller’s Field and a third location is TBD so if you have a strong opinion then post it on the event page. Shore Club has a big event that day so it was removed from the list.
Achievement Clubs
You may or may not have noticed that we’ve modified the P360 Achievement Clubs and added a new one. As the gym continues to grow, so too do the results you guys produce so we need to always be sure that we set appropriate targets for you guys. Avoiding stagnant mediocrity is not just a punch line on the website, it’s what we firmly believe.
Here are the new guidelines.
Lean & Mean Club – 15 pound fat loss or more
Men’s Barbell Club – 350# deadlift & 175# push press
Women’s Barbell Club – 200# deadlift & 95# push press
Mayweather Club - men’s requirements / women’s requirements
- 13:00 / 15:00 “600″
- 25 rounds / 20 rounds “Dirty30″
- 20 strict pull-ups / 5 strict pull-ups
Maximus Club (NEW) – We’re rolling a new club that’s going to be top of the top-tier (men’s/women’s)
- 200% of body weight deadlift
- 110% / 90% press
- 110% / 90% hang clean
- 58″ box jump / 36″ box jump
- 13:00 / 15:00 “600″
- 25 rounds / 20 rounds “Dirty30″
We are also going to be modifying the requirements for Dirty30 and 600 as we’ll introduce today. We are really starting to notice the competitive juices flowing on the signature workouts and love it! We just need to ensure we don’t sacrifice range of motion and the point of the workout just to beat a time or amount of rounds.
We’ll be asking chest to hit the floor on each and every push-up from now on to ensure we get the work out of the actual workout. This will be reviewed each day we do push-ups as a reminder
.

Training Insider: ‘Beat the Soft’ Holiday Challenge
Good morning, everybody. We have a TON in store for you guys over the upcoming the holiday season and we’re excited to get it rolling this week starting with Thanksgiving schedule, ‘Beat the Soft’ Holiday Challenges and more.
For starters, we had an amazing time on the bus with those of you that went and while we’ll stay away from the finer details we have some recognition for first spills of the day!
Great turtleneck, great mustache and great spill.
All in all a really fun time and we’re excited for December’s can’t miss Ugly Sweater Bar Crawl on December 10th.
‘Beat the Soft’ Holiday Challenge
Here’s the deal. Anyone can train over the summer months when the motivation is to be in beach gear. That’s not impressive to us as we’re trying to do much more than develop beach bodies (although it is a nice side effect). REAL work is put in during the Fall and Winter where motivation is entirely self-driven.
We are very excited to kick off our 1st Annual ‘Beat the Soft’ Holiday Challenge on Monday, November 21 and ending December 31. It’s completely voluntary and you need to make it known if you are participating. We will have a few different categories to allow any individual to be able to win something.
We will have a male and female winner for the following categories.
- Most Total Pounds Lost – we are simply taking the highest total pounds of weight loss regardless of body weight.
- Highest Percentage Weight Loss – percentage of pounds loss against total body weight. For example, an 8# weight loss from someone who weighs 185# would be a 4% weight loss…highest percentage wins.
- Strength Gains – percentage of total strength gain for three main exercises: deadlift, push press, squat. We will the percentage increase for all three exercises for a total sum. For example, if you start at 85# on deadlift and go up to 125# over the six week contest that would represent a 32% increase just for deadllift.
Just shoot us an email or post on the Facebook wall if you’re in and in which categories.
We will handle of the tracking so you don’t need to worry about any of the details. Once you announce yourself in, just sh0w and go and let us worry about the scoreboard. A scale will be added to the gym on weigh in days.
And, what’s a contest without some sweet Grand Prizes?
- 1st Place for each – FREE month or $1oo U-Call-It Gift Card
- Runner up for each – 50% off a month or $50 U-Call-It Gift Card
We hope to see as many of you in the contest as possible since it will keep you focused and keep you from turning into soft mush over the course of the holidays.
While the rest of the country is averaging a 5 – 12# fat gain, this gym will be leaning out and getting stronger. Mark it down.
Member Shout Outs
We had a very impressive week in the gym collectively, with a lot of you blowing past old PRs in the Dirty30 and had three different ladies set records in the gym! What you don’t see, is that Kristen Petersen set the push press record only to be bested by Laura Stomber a day later!
Thanksgiving Schedule
We will be going to the following hours over Thanksgiving break.
- Monday & Tuesday - regularly scheduled classes
- Wednesday – 6:30 am DC, 7:15 am DC, 7:30 am OC, 12 pm DC
- Thanksgiving - 9 am Thanksgiving Day Workout then closed
- Friday – closed gym, group hike below
- Saturday – normal hours
Rather than open the gym up for a couple of workouts on Friday we thought it might be fun to do a group hike of the longer Torrey Pines loop instead.
We’ll meet in the Torrey Pines State Park parking lot at 11 am and then hike it. Feel free to do as much or as little as you like but either way you’ll be starring straight at the ocean on Thanksgiving weekend and that friends, is alright.
Holiday Referral Contest
As a reminder we are now in the thick of our November and December Holiday Referral contest and we have the following standings.
- Chris Cisek – 13 points
- Matt Gordon – 7 points
- Rick Dengler – 5 points
- Rachelle Rulenz – 1 point
- Laura Stomber – 1 point
You get one point for referring a friend that simply tries the gym and then an additional five points if that member joins, so you can add up points pretty quickly.
GRAND PRIZE – $100 U-Call-It P360 Christmas Present
The way the U-Call-It will work is plain and simple. We’ll buy you something up to the value of $100. Had your eye on a new pair of kicks? Want a crisp Benjamin Franklin? Deduct $100 off of your membership? Bar tab?
Whatever you want we’ll throw $100 behind it.
Yoga
As a reminder we have officially moved all Yoga classes to Thursday morning at 6:30 am out on the water. Yoga has seen sporadic attendance over the life of the class at P360. We want very much to keep it alive since those of you who have tried it have loved it, but the only way it can remain on the schedule is if people show.
Some of our heaviest lifters in the gym are the most consistent attenders and that is no coincidence. Ask Sean if you’re a guy and you’re curious to the benefits. He’s pulling 435#, pressing 205# and never had an ounce of back pain.
And for the ladies who might miss certain aspects of yoga from previous places, this is a great way to get your fix.
Here is a great website to illustrate just how important mobility is for the health of our bodies. I could drone on and on about the importance of mobility for ensuring you remain injury-free but the only way to see its wonders is to try it for yourself.
We are open to all suggestions on preferred time if morning is too hard for some people.
Weekly Training Split
Here’s what the Daily Challenges for the week look like (Friday’s is a partner workout with split reps).
Trivia
This week’s trivia winner was Ms. Heather Dentz! Her guess of 11 mixed up babies (just feels terrible to say) was almost spot on to the actual answer of 12. Dave Laut was a close second with a guess of 3,500.
Into the November Gift Card raffle goes Heather.
As always, continue to let us know what we can do to become a better gym and we’re excited to see what you guys can do over the upcoming Holidays.

Training Insider: Contests, Events & Holidays
Good morning, P360′ers. We have a jam packed newsletter this fine November Monday morning so let’s get right to the meat of it.
Ff you missed last week’s blog post about my 15 years of eating habits then feel free to check it out for some insight into my own trials on what and how to eat and train. Good lighthearted read to break up your Monday.
Holiday Referral Contest
We are putting together two GIGANTE contests to close out 2011 (that felt weird to say) and we’re really excited about both of ‘em.
The first is going to be a points-based referral contest where you will accrue points for various referrals.
Here’s how it’s going to work.
- Have a friend try the gym = 1 point
- Have a friend join the gym = 5 points
Clean and easy. We want to encourage as much trial as possible from now until the end of the year and we know a lot of you have mentioned that you have friends who have been meaning to try us. Let’s give them a good ole’ kick in the ass an get them in here.
We have two Grand Prizes.
- 1st Place: $100 You-Call-It Christmas Present (we’ll either hand you a $100 bill, take $100 off your dues for the month, get you shoes, pay a bar tab, whatever. The $100 value can be put to anything you want).
- 2nd Place: $50 off membership for the month
We’ll have a running tally of the standings on the board throughout the course of the next two months so let’s do this!
‘Staches for Soldiers
We are off to a great start with our ‘Staches for Soldiers initiative for the Wounded Warrior Project. If you need a refresher on how this works then check out the original blog post.
Here are the tallies so far with the number representing days in mustache and the parenthesis representing female sponsor.
- Chris Cisek – 7 (Danielle M.)
- Jason Weber – 7 (Ashley Blanton)
- Yash Norhashemi – 6 (Alex Vekich)
- Pritz – 6 (Kristen Petersen)
- DT – 6 (Laura Stomber)

Temecula Bus
We are excited about the bus this weekend and have a full roster going. You’ll be getting a separate email from us if you signed up with all of the complete details. If you slacked off and never registered then let me know if you want to get on the waiting list as seats are now full. If people drop out we’ll be offering on a first come, first serve basis.
Member Shout Outs
Another outstanding week with a new record and two ties of existing records.
Good Eats
We have about 25 people at this point on the Lean & Mean Meal Plan and the results so far have been awesome. Those on it are leaning out and gaining strength at a very noticeable rate and we’ve heard 11 pounds as the highest fat loss on it to date.
Each week we provide four meals with all of the ingredients and cooking instructions so that the guess work of daily nutrition is completely removed.
If you want access to it then let us know and we’ll tell you the options. It’s just nine bucks per month to add to any plan or you can bump up to Super Unlimited .
Here’s a sampling from it that I ate all last week and thoroughly enjoyed.
Chorizo Scramble
- 12 eggs
- 6 oz. egg whites
- 12 oz. pork chorizo
- 4 diced jalapenos
- 2 diced bell peppers
- 6 oz. feta cheese
Brown the chorizo and jalapenos for five minutes and then add the remaining ingredients and scramble together. Add the cheese at the very end and store in a large tupperware container.
Holiday Gym Contest
The second holiday contest we mentioned is going to start in approximately a week and it is going to be awesome. We are going to have a series of categories in which you can compete with some seriously awesome grand prizes for the winners.
Here are the tentative categories.
- Biggest Loser (most weight lost total)
- Biggest Loser Percentage (highest percentage total of weight lost)
- Strong Man & Woman (highest strength increase)
Prizes are TBD and we’ll have the full details next week but we want to see as many of you participating as possible. Given that the average person gains anywhere from 1 – 11 pounds of fat during the holidays we don’t want to see a single one of you be a statistic.
Training Split
Stand-Up Paddle Surf n’ Turf will be on again this week but will be moved up to 9:30 to accommodate those of you going on the bus.
Trivia
Mr. Nic Cadiente wraps up another trivia victory with his exact guess of 136 degrees as the “hottest temperature ever recorded on Earth.” His guess of Gobi Desert (Libya was the answer) was not correct but the temperature was spot on.
While Brad Sweet was close with his guess of 3,000 degrees, the prize goes to Nic.
Stay tuned for Thanksgiving Hours and events, the details on the holiday fitness challenges and more stuff next week.

The winner of last week’s trivia question was Nick Cadiente. His guess of 4,000 was closest to the actual answer of 5,000 and change total mammals on the planet.

Training Insider: Costume Day, Dairy & More
Happy Monday, fools. Monday, while it being a depressing work day its a great day to get your entire week started off on the right foot nutrition and training wise. Monday lays the foundation for how the rest of the days after it will go so it’s important that Monday be a productive day!
Football season is in full on depression mode for me right now since the Redskins are returning to their true form and my fantasy teams are getting stomped. I have nothing to live for on Sundays right now and it’s no way for an American male to feel on the greatest day of the week.
Here’s what we have going on in the gym that you guys should be aware of.
Halloween Costume Contest
Halloween falls on a Monday this year but we’re going to pretend it’s a Friday for the sake of the gym. So, this Friday let’s have some fun with it. Wear your best costume to the gym on Friday and the winner (as deemed by His Honorables Pritz & Thomas) gets (15) $1 drink tickets to Sneak Joint. Let’s see what everyone’s got!
Member Shout Outs
Awesome week for you guys. A deadlift and box jump record fell, and another box jump record was matched.
November Recess
To Temecula we go! Thanks for everyone who provided feedback regarding winery vs. brewery as it was almost a dead heat. In the end, we made the executive decision since the outdoor aspect of Temecula and the longer bus ride took the cake.
So, here is what we have for you guys over the course of the next 45 days in terms of gym events.
- Limo Bus to Temecula – Saturday, November 12th
- Thanksgiving Day Hike – Cowles Mountain, 8 am
For the Limo Bus on the 12th, we have had the referral contest for the past 60 days and we will continue it until the 12th. Referring a new member gets you a spot on the bus. If you don’t earn a spot that way then you can still most certainly come. Seats will be roughly $20. Should be an awesome day so circle the calendar.
The Thanksgiving Day hike will be a lot of fun and a way for us to eat and drink guilt-free all day. Cowles is a short hike with great views so we can be in and out of there in two hours.
Training Split
Here is what we have going on this week in the gym.
Specialty Classes
As a reminder, we now have a full lineup of Specialty Classes that run every single week. Here is what we have going on this week and for the foreseeable future. Remember, spots are very limited so sign up early!
- Core Blast – Tuesday, 5:30 pm
- Black Ops – Wednesday, 7:45 pm
- Yoga for Athletes – Thursday, 6:30 am
- Power Hour – Thursday, 7 pm
Ladies, don’t be afraid of Power Hour. We know there are at least a couple of you who want to get stronger and this is a great class to focus up on it. This goes for fellas that might be a little intimidated, as well. This class is completely broken down by strength level and really personalized. The camaraderie is high and I’ve really liked the vibe the first three classes.
What’s the Deal With: Dairy
Check out the board when you come in this week for a very short summary on how all dairies are not created equal. All in all, dairy is something that is going to vary person to person in terms of lactose tolerance and effect on body composition. There are many reasons we place it in Yellow Light territory and this 3-part series from Brian St. Pierre does a phenomenal job of explaining it.
Facebook Contest
Thanks for your patience while we meticulously count all the points. We will have the final results for you guys this week and will be applying discounts accordingly.
This week’s trivia winner is Pat Conner! His guess of 2,100 miles was closest to the answer of 2,437 for “what is the distance from San Diego to New York City traveling in a straight line”. Into the lottery goes Pat.
As always, continue to let us know what we can do to make this a better gym for you guys.
